On Useit article

Useit or lose it - the old cliche never went away, that's just the way it is, theres no if ands or buts about it, you can't lose what you never had, and who ever wins - wins. Is this confusing or what? That is what this article is about and now to fix it. In, "6 Ways to Fix a Confused Information Architechture", what is discused is when your websites users navigate to the wrong sections and how to fix this with options such as better labels to clearer structure.

First the problem is diagnosed, then sex fixes are recomended. 1) Merge Sections, 2) Rename existing sections, 3) Explain all choices, 4) Restructure the site, 5) Move information around to better locations, 6) Add cross-reference links. This is all good advice and I think that anyone who owns a website should consider following. Best of all you have nothing to gain but more users.

Article: Online Ad Spending Reaches $4.2Billion in Quarter 3

This article discuses the dramatic increase of online ad spending which has grown 30% from this time last year. (Research by: Internet Advertising Revenue Report from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC)). This sets a new record and further grow is expected. "We're close to surpassing the full year revenues from 2005 in the first three quarters of this year, which is very exciting," Sheryl, SVP and general manager of the IAB, "Marketers are becoming more confident in the medium. They're spending more, seeing better results, and then returning to spend even more" - oh goodie.

This is substancial growth, could it be due to the fact that there are more people also online now, and that a good amount are broadband users. Or maybe, because online shoppers are more trusting on internet security, and in turn are shopping more online. It is true that in the last two years women online shoppers have increase to 52% (Wired magazine). I think since the internet is evolving everyday, and consumers are also evolving these users are finding it convenient to shop online.

This in turn could be causing marketers to see the light and start the attention grabbing to make those sales. "Marketers are seeing the power of search and display together. The impact of the combination is greater than both of them by themselves", Sheryl again - thanks Sheryl.

I chose this article because this incredible change, I though, is very interesting and exciting - wow! Ecommerce is important in the way that people who have less time can get their shopping done so convieniently and super fast. It also provides a safe haven for those that are afraid of crowds.

Zauwii! it's Zappos

Zappos is a great site, I like that I can search just about any shoe that I may show some interest for. For this assignment I chose a woman's shoe, CARLOS - By Carlos Santana. I would love to see my wife in these shoes. They are entirely too sexy, so sexy I feel it.

The posted reviews were intrigueging, so much so that I had to go back a couple of times to keep reading. Some made me laugh, and others were good to know. I found that for the most part customers really like these shoes for their excitement and sex apppeal, "very sexy", "hot shoes", "So cute", and some for their comfort, "great looking and comfortable". But then, there are those cases when - in short..."the shoe just don't fit", and that's when the reviews went sour, " so cute, yet so painful", "it took some time to ware them in but then they were very comfortable". Here is what a couple of reviews said:

These shoes are awesome!! I bought these shoes in black and they are so hot!!!! They are comfortable and they are so sexy! If you are looking for some great pumps that are comfortable and look great these are the ones.

So cute yet so painful- Now my opinion may be slightly jaded because I’ve only recently crossed into the “High Heel” realm of living but, I just couldn’t take these!! They were gorgeous when I first saw them and still are but a minute out in these would be unbearable.

I think that after reading the reviews I would buy a pair, but of course I would try them on first to see how they ride. Well I would have my wife try them on I mean.

One advantage comsumers may have after reading the reviews is that they are more informed before making a buy.

Zappos benefits from the reviews by becoming a trusted source for shoes.

I would not recommend for any site like Keneth Cole of offer recommendations for their own shoes, because if they only sell their own brand we have only their word to take for it.

I never check out online recommendations. I buy what, but I do try them on first, if I they don't look good or feel right I don't buy. It's that simple.

Product reviews are nice, but I only takes common sence, if you really like the shoe use it...common sence that is.
